How the mock matches the real test
- 50 questions, 45 minutes. That's about 54 seconds a question. The timer runs the whole time.
- 45 to pass (90%). Your result shows pass or fail, and your score for each section and topic.
- The same question styles, including choose two, picture options, drag and drop, hot spot. See question types.
- Answers come at the end in a timed mock, as on the day. Switch to review mode to see each explanation straight away.
How to use a mock test
- Take one mock cold, before you revise, to find your weak topics.
- Practice those topics. Read why every wrong option is wrong: that's where the marks are.
- Take another mock. When you pass twice, book the real test for £23.50 (how to book).

Is the CITB mock test free?
Yes. The full Operatives mock, a mock for every Specialist test and the MAP mock are free, with every answer explained. No sign-up, no ads.
How close is the mock to the real CITB test?
It uses the same rules: 50 questions, 45 minutes and 45 to pass, with the same styles of question. The questions themselves are our own, written from HSE guidance, because the real ones are not published.
How many mocks should I take?
Keep going until you score 45 or more twice in a row, then book. Read the explanations for every question you got wrong in between.
Which CITB mock test should I take?
The one for the test you are booking. Most people sit the Operatives test. Supervisors and some trades sit a Specialist test, and managers sit MAP.
