CSCS tests for your team

Every worker sits the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test in person. A fail costs another £23.50 and a delay on site, so a few free mock tests first pay for themselves.

Booking for a group

• Four or more candidates: use CITB's group booking system.
• 16 or more: a mobile testing unit can come to your site, so nobody travels to a test centre.
• Everyone else: books a slot at a Pearson Professional Centre, online or on 0344 994 4488.
• Moving or cancelling needs 72 hours' notice, or the £23.50 fee is lost. See costs.

Which test each worker needs

• Operatives: Labourers and most skilled trades. This is the test most people take for their first card.
• Specialist: Supervisors and some trades, such as demolition, highway works and plumbing. It is the Operatives core plus questions on one specialist area.
• Managers and Professionals: Site managers, and people with a construction degree or professional membership. Updated in June 2023.

Workers whose first language isn't English

Questions appear in English, but Operatives candidates can hear them read out in their language. Operatives and Specialist candidates can book a translator if there's no voiceover for their language. Managers and Professionals candidates can't. Ask for it when you book. See languages and voiceover.
