How to revise
Twenty minutes a day for two weeks is enough for most people. Start with a mock to find your weak spots, then fix them one topic at a time.
Facts checked 25 October 2026
Day 1: find out where you are
Take a free timed mock without revising first. Your results show your score by section and topic.
Days 2 to 10: fix your weakest topics
- Pick your two weakest topics each day and practice them untimed.
- Read the explanation for every option, including the ones you got right. That's where the rule is.
- Follow the HSE link on anything that surprised you.
Days 11 to 14: timed mocks
Take a timed mock each day. Aim for 45 or more three times in a row before you sit the real thing. Between mocks, drill the questions you missed.
What to learn by heart
- Safety sign colours and shapes: red circle (prohibition), blue circle (mandatory), yellow triangle (warning), green square (safe condition).
- The order of control: remove the hazard first, PPE last.
- When to stop work and tell your supervisor.
If English is your second language
Practise in English, because the questions on screen are in English. Learn the key words (hazard, risk assessment, PPE, permit) and check the voiceover options for your version.
