Sources and fact checks
Every fact on this site comes from an official source. Here is where, and when we last checked.
Test facts
The fee, pass mark, number of questions, versions, languages, booking and ID rules were last checked on, against:
- CITB: About the HS&E test
- CITB: Booking your HS&E test
- CITB: HS&E test ID policy
- CITB: HS&E test booking terms and conditions (April 2026)
Card facts come from:
We recheck these before every release. Where sources disagree (for example, older CSCS pages still show the old £22.50 fee), we follow CITB, which runs the test.
Practice questions
Every question links to at least one source, almost always HSE guidance or the law itself. Waste and pollution questions may link to gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk or NetRegs instead, because HSE doesn't cover them.
Our 2963 free questions cite: books.hse.gov.uk, gov.uk, hse.gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk, netregs.org.uk.
Most recent question check: . Each question shows its own date.
How we write and check questions.
What we don't use
CITB's own question banks, other practice sites, or "real question" lists shared online. Copying them would be wrong, and they are often out of date.
