What ID to bring
Bring one original, in-date photo ID with your signature, such as a passport or photocard driving licence. Without the right ID you won't be let in, and you lose the fee.
Facts checked 25 October 2026
First choice: one of these
- A UK or international passport.
- A UK or European photocard driving licence.
- An eVisa, shown through View and Prove in your UKVI account.
It must show your full name, a photo that looks like you, and your signature (the eVisa doesn't need a signature).

Rules that catch people out
- Originals only. No photocopies or photos on your phone (except the eVisa).
- Not expired. Check the date before you go.
- Same name as your booking. If your name has changed, bring the original marriage certificate, deed poll or similar that links the names.
- Under 16? You need a parental consent form as well as ID.
If you can't meet any of these, CITB has an ID waiver form. Ask CITB well before your test day.
