Show the answer and explanation
Correct order: D, A, B, C
- D. Tie both stiles to a suitable point First. Tying the ladder, with both stiles tied, is the best way to stop it moving.
- A. Use an effective ladder stability device Second. If tying isn't practical, use a stability device.
- B. Wedge the ladder, for example against a wall Third. If neither of those is possible, wedge the stiles securely.
- C. Have someone foot the ladder Last. HSE says footing is the last resort.
Explanation
Secure ladders by tying both stiles, or with a stability device, or by wedging. Footing is the last resort.
